Kode 7 – 80-100% – Uitmuntende prestasie / Outstanding achievement
Kode 6 – 70-79% – Verdienstelike prestasie / Meritorious achievement
Kode 5 – 60-69% – Beduidende prestasie / Substantial achievement
Kode 4 – 50-59% – Voldoende prestasie / Adequate achievement
Kode 3 – 40-49% – Matige prestasie / Moderate achievement
Kode 2 – 30-39% – Basiese prestasie / Elementary achievement
Kode 1 – 0-29% – Ontoereikende prestasie / Not achieved

PASS REQUIREMENTS FOR GRADE 9

A learner passes if he achieves:

• at least a code 3 in a language taken on first-/ second-/ third language level (either Afrikaans, English or Xhosa) and a code 2 in any other official language;
• AND at least a code 3 in Mathematics;
• AND, in addition to the above learning areas, at least a code 3 in four other learning areas.

• Huistaal: 40% +
• 40% + in twee ander vakke
• 30% + in die ander vakke

MATRICULATION EXEMPTION

• Pass grade 12
• A minimum of 50% in four of the following subjects:
  Accounting
  Economics
  Engineering Graphics and Design
  Geography
  History
  Information Technology
  Life Sciences
  Mathematics
  Mathematical Literacy
  Music
  Physical Sciences
  Visual Arts
  Languages: One Home Language and two other languages.
